4 February 1912 — Cairo | |
Sunday. 4th [February 1912]. Find staying here Mr Pandolfi Ralli, Sir Fred Muir & his son & a Capt. McMurdo. Sir Fred & his son both very tall & Sir Fred very deaf went to church with Eda & me in the morning. Lord Kitchener was too busy to go. M. Menier came to lunch here & stayed chatting till past 3. Ld K. had to go off to see the Khedive so Eda & I drove out with Mr Ralli to walk in the Zoological Gardens & came in just before 6. Found Lord K. had just finished tea but he ordered more & sat a little while talking when we retired to our rooms. After dinner Lord Colum took Eda, Capt. McMurdo & young Milner to see the Pyramids & the Sphinx by moonlight. The English post came in & brought me a letter from Blanche. Others read the papers & Lord K. dosed till at 11 we all went off to bed– Eda had not returned till 12. | |
