15 April 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 15th [April 1912]. The Milners left me & went to England by the train de luxe. I was sorry to lose them. Sir Fred is a charming man & his deafness shuts him off so much from the world that at times he looks very sad. The son Derrick is a good lad & tho’ still very childish in some ways seems to me to promise well & to have a reserve of cleverness. He has a curious sort of perseverance & has mastered all the bead work he found me doing here & was not satisfied till he did it well.
