17 June 1912 — Chateau Le Muette, Paris
Monday. 17th [June 1912]. We found Sophy (Countess de Franqueville) waiting for us at the Gare de Lyons when we arrived there at 4.20 a.m.—& she carried us off luggage & all in her motor car to stay with her at Chateau Le Muette her lovely home & country house standing in a park on the skirts of Paris. I rested all the morning till lunch at 12.30. Afterwards Nela & I drove in the brougham of our hosts to shop that we might order our wedding garments. The dressmaker I have employed ever since I married (Mlle Michaud) has moved from 2nd Capucines to Faubourg St Honoré & there she welcomed me, & I ordered from her. We are very good friends & she kissed my hand with affection. Nela & I got back to La Muette by tea time & could hardly realize that yesterday we had been breakfasting quietly at home at Venice.
