20 July 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 20th [July 1912]. The fête of the Redentore– There was such a storm in the afternoon that it almost spoilt the festa & it was found in the evening that the fireworks & music had to be put off till tomorrow. I went out in gondola after dinner & fetched Mr & Mrs Price to take them to see the fête. There were hundreds of boats out dressed with greens & hung with lights going about rather aimlessly—but all seemed happy & the bigger crafts had in them tables on wh was prepared the supper of those who sat round—many were singing & all seemed happy. I came home between 10 & 11.
