4 September 1912 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 4th [September 1912]. Charlie walked with me to Poland St where we went to Levasseur to choose furniture for Blanche. I walked to Claridge Hotel in Brook St by 1.15 & lunched with Princess Stephanie & Count Lonyay & Bss Gagern. We lunched in the public dining room—very indifferent cooking– The Princess was very amiable & lively. She proposed me to go to pay her a visit at Oroszvar in Novr which I half promised to do. We sat out in the hall for coffee & soon after 2 she let me leave as she knew I was going by train. So I walked home—& at 3 started for Waterloo station with Baker who saw me off for Templecombe. I met at the station Mrs Dacre Du Cane also going to stay with Theo at Inwood. We had tea together in the rest. car. Reached Templecombe at 5.55 & drove to Inwood. Theo received us cordially. Dined at 7.45 did puzzle in evening. Bed at 10.30. Aura did not appear till dinner time. This is a depressing house to me—with memories of dear Merthyr.
