22 September 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 22nd [September 1912]. We breakfasted in our rooms. Went to morng service at 10.30 a.m. It appears that Mr & Mrs Asquith arrived here yesterday & are staying with Lady Cunard an American who has taken a house here for a month—& is very “lively” & has all sorts of queer people staying with her. A despairing lot of strange visitors called on me—Mr & Mrs & Miss Powell (of Whitefriars), Mr Spence our Consul of Trieste, a Mr P.                & a Herr & Frau Trautwald also Mr Albert Ball—an old friend. The Germans turned out nice lively people friends of Mme Cornelius. We gave them tea & showed them the pictures. Went to service at the Sailors Institute at 8 o’cl a very large attendance. The new Managers Mr & Mrs Swan are a great success. Dined on our return after having had a busy day.
